Hi - new to this group & up to my elbows providing transition services to youth in public education 14-26 yrs of age. Looking for some insight or resource on the following: Work Based Learning / Work Experience: We are putting our students out into the community in rotating locations to explore careers, local business, skills, etc. Love the program and the students are getting a TON out of it. Question: who or what has the liability if a child is injured when they are out participating? Would it be the general liability of the company? The school? Nothing has happened - yet. I'm concerned about this - and certainly taking all precautions to ensure a safe environment. How should state's be handling this? To complicate this, I know that Workers' comp rules are different among states! HELP!!
